RoHS: EU initiative for comprehensive amendment of the RoHS Directive as part of the “Green Deal”

Manufacturers, importers and other economic operators affected are encouraged to keep an eye on further developments, as there may be significant changes to the requirements for electrical products.

At the beginning of this year, the EU Commission launched an initiative to simplify the requirements under the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. The initiative is intended to place the RoHS goals in context with the goals of the circular economy and the Zero-Pollutant Action Plan. It therefore includes various wide-ranging options, from maintaining the status quo while revising the associated FAQs all the way through to repealing the RoHS Directive and incorporating its provisions into the REACh Regulation. Moreover, market surveillance is also to be adapted or reformed, where necessary.

Manufacturers, importers and other economic operators affected are encouraged to keep an eye on further developments, as there may be substantial changes to the requirements relating to electrical products.
