EU supply chain directive stopped

The CDU/CSU parliamentary group is calling for the European Council to work in favour of stopping the European Supply Chain Directive and for a moratorium on burdens that does not impose any additional bureaucracy on businesses and citizens until the end of 2025.

+++ Update (29/02/2024) +++ EU supply chain law fails again +++

The VERE Association has learnt from interested parties that the EU Council has still not made a decision on the fate of the EU Supply Chain Directive (CSDDD) dossier, which could mean that it will not be adopted. An information session of the EU Parliament on the CSDDD was cancelled despite record registration by interested participants in order not to provide information that is not confirmed or could change quickly.

Previously, the final CSDDD vote had already been postponed. The reasons for this include, in particular, Germany's abstention due to the opposition of the FDP (take-e-way reported on the "self-strangulation through CSDDD"). This would not have secured the necessary majority among the member states.

Furthermore, in a motion (20/10371) in the Bundestag, the CDU/CSU parliamentary group calls for an "economic turnaround", an "immediate programme for the German economy" and, in this context, for the European Council to work towards stopping the European Supply Chain Directive as well as a moratorium on burdens that does not provide for any additional bureaucracy for businesses and citizens until the end of 2025.
