New rules for toy safety

Children should be better protected from harmful chemicals such as PFAS, endocrine disruptors and bisphenols. Toys are to have a digital product passport to prevent unsafe toys sold online and offline from entering the EU. The regulation contains stricter rules for online sales in particular and gives inspectors more powers.

The European Chemicals Agency presents a proposal for an EU-wide restriction of certain hexavalent chromium (VI) substances. The aim is to reduce the harmful effects of these carcinogenic chemicals for both workers and the general public.

In a legal dispute with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, Amazon is citing its role as a logistics service provider.
