Ensure Packaging Recyclability under the PPWR
trade-e-bility helps you implement Articles 5 & 6 of the Packaging Regulation
Since 11 February 2025, the new EU Packaging Regulation (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation – PPWR) has been directly applicable in all EU Member States. The aim of the regulation is to create a uniform legal framework for packaging throughout the European market. The PPWR regulates the design, placing on the market and disposal of packaging, thus ensuring greater sustainability and efficiency in the circular economy.
One of the core requirements of the PPWR: recyclability of packaging
A central element of the PPWR is Article 6, which sets out requirements for the recyclability of packaging. Packaging must be designed in such a way that it can be collected, sorted and recycled on a large scale under realistic conditions.
The PPWR also defines in Article 5 minimum requirements and thresholds depending on the type of material and technical feasibility, which are binding for all Member States.
