Next step to phase out light sources: Ban on certain energy-saving light bulbs as of 1 September 2021

The past regulation for energy-saving lamps or compact fluorescent light sources, as they are now referred to, will be repealed on 1 September 2021. The new targets for luminous efficacy (lm/W) are so low that most energy-saving lamps will have to be withdrawn from the market. In addition, new energy efficiency requirements for light sources will apply from the same date.

Economic actors affected, such as manufacturers, importers or fulfilment service providers, should pay attention to changes in legislation for energy-related products (“ERP”) and make changes now without fail on any items that may still be in stock. trade-e-bility will advise them on questions of placing lamps and light sources on the market and on dealing with still existing stocks.
