As reported by Onlinehändler News, Amazon monitors compliance with guidelines not only on its own marketplace pages and sanctions violations, for example with suspensions. What is new is that, in addition to information on Amazon product detail pages (e.g. titles, images, bullet points and product texts), Amazon is apparently also checking external websites and seller offers. This information is based on a report by Amazon expert Vanessa Hung, CEO of the e-commerce agency Online Seller Solutions, on the business network LinkedIn, which refers to a message from Amazon support to a seller who previously had problems with compliance. According to the message, the Amazon system had stored data that originated directly from the website of the affected brand and was the reason for a recurring compliance message on the ASIN. By comparing publicly accessible data from sellers and brands, the aim is to ensure and enforce compliance with regulations on the company's own platform. And this is how Amazon is proceeding according to the report:
An Amazon artificial intelligence scans brand websites and checks or saves statements made about products and packaging content as part of the compliance processes. If formulations are recognised on external sites that do not comply with the Amazon marketplace regulations, listings may be deactivated. Although this system was introduced over a year ago, the effects are now being felt and are not expected to be an isolated incident. While brand websites were previously controlled autonomously by the sellers, this step by the marketplace practically means that platform-external listings, product information and data maintenance must be implemented in compliance with Amazon in future. Otherwise, ASINs could be penalised, says Onlinehändler News.
